WML International Cup Postponed for Greater Exposure
The Women's Motocross League announced on September 15, 2000 that the
scheduled BabY G WML International Cup at Perris Raceway in Perris, California
USA for October 1, 2000 was postponed until a later date, to allow adequate time
to promote the event properly for greater exposure.
The decision was made by the board members of the non-profit organization after
the WML was notified of staff changes within the television production company
that was committed to providing coverage for the event.
The International Cup is a competition that draws riders from all over the
world. An event of this caliber is more than a race. It is promoted
and coordinated to properly foster growth and increase awareness of women's
motocross as a whole. To allow an event of this type to take place without
having all necessary elements would be a mistake. The event was
rescheduled until a date when all elements necessary can be secured, and a
commitment to work towards the event's success could be obtained from all
involved.
The WML went on to produce the WML International Championships in 2001 &
2002 held at the famous Hangtown National which drew International riders from 8
countries and nearly 100 riders total.
